A couple months ago, I told you all about my plans to run the Disneyland Half Marathon. I also included my running playlist, which was almost more exciting for me than announcing my big plans.
Now, one thing you should know about me (I know I say this a lot): I am obsessed with music. I’ve probably told you all this, but it’s true and bears repeating. Music is what motivates me most when I’m exercising – more than getting in shape, more than burning calories, more than the promise of slimmer thighs and a tighter booty. I can’t work out without music. If I don’t bring my iPod with me to run – or whatever – I might as well go home because that workout is going to suck.
At any rate, since I had so much fun creating my first playlist, I wanted to bring it back with a fresh new playlist and something fun for you all…more on that in just a bit.
I’m going to theme it up for this one, and maybe future ones if you’re into it! This playlist’s theme is all about 90s music. I think that decade of music is just about the ultimate: Foo Fighters. Nirvana. Blink 182 and Nada Surf and Biggie and 2Pac and Salt-n-Pepa AND…
Maybe you just want to listen to the playlist:

Giveaway ends March 11th, so get to entering!
What kind of playlist will you put together if you win the iTunes gift card? What kind of playlist do you want to see me do next time? Do you want there to be a next time? Tell me in the comments!
I would use the iTunes gift to make a playlist with Top 40 singles… I use iTunes for all the guilty pleasure music when I don’t actually want to buy the album 🙂
Nita, I hear you! Even though songs are $0.99, I find it so hard to pull the trigger on the guilty pleasures (which shall remain nameless…for now.)
I would definetly use it to download some of the new Beyonce, DJ Trashy, Anything with a good beat that I can run to. I am definetly over due to freshen up my playlist 🙂 Thanks!!!
The new Beyonce is AMAZING! I can’t even choose my favorite…they’re all awesome running tracks!
I use to feel much like you were I looked forward to my runs because I just wanted to be alone with my music! Now it is getting easier for me to run without it (which I never thought I would do)!
People who can – and like to! – run without music intrigue me. I use music as a means of distraction because otherwise I’d be counting my steps and thinking “how much longer how much longer how much longer?” But I would love to keep trying to run without music. I think it’s a wonderful opportunity to just be with your thoughts. 🙂
I could really use some new tunes to work out with, so I would use the iTunes card for that. I love to see other people’s playlists, especially when they are for working out. Keep them coming, I need more suggestions!
I love making them so much. I was happy as a clam last night putting this one together. 🙂 I’m excited to continue this series!
I’m not really sure what kind of music I would pick. I haven’t listened to anything current in a very long time. Probably some peppy 80s/90s music!
80s and 90s music are both excellent choices! The sound of my youth. 🙂
I’ve mostly stopped listening to music while I run, so there’s a decent chance I’d use the gift card to buy fun game apps instead of music.
Apps are great, too. Just don’t go with Candy Crush – spare yourself the pain if you haven’t played it yet!
This would be great to add some spicy new music to my playlist!
I love the spicy tunes! Good luck!
I’m all about the beats. No particular songs, but just ones that really get me going. (Timber is the most recent example.)
I’m totally about the beats, too, Lisa! I really love running to rap and R&B, or beat-heavy music like M83. Timber totally gets me pumped up too!
I really need some new music to run to! Thanks for the giveaway!
Our pleasure! Good luck!
I like most up beat music, recently even some country. The other night we watched a show featuring Chuck Berry, he is in his 80’s and still rocking. But, I like a lot of Gaga and top 40.
I’m a fan of country, too, Arlene! I grew up on Lyle Lovett and George Strait. I have a soft spot for the classic country guys.
great playlist! I too made my own for Disney’s Princess last week.
Very nice, Maryalicia! Hope it helped pump you up to the finish!
I NEED more music!
I hear you, Kris! It’s never enough for me. 🙂 Good luck!
I would definitely download songs with fast beat for my running!!! 🙂
Fast beats are the best for running for sure! Good luck!
I love all of your playlists!
Thanks, Lindsay!
Alternative, such as Imagine Dragon or Awolnation.
I love alternative, too! Radioactive is such a motivating song.
I am in desperate need of some new music, I keep listening to the same old tracks!
Laurel, I have the same issue – I listen to the same songs over and over again until I can’t stand it and I have to make a bajillion new playlists.
I am so in need of new music and audio books. The dreadmill is so boring without this
Ah, audio books! I always forget about those. What are you reading lately?
I need some new tunes, few races coming up!
Good luck with the races and the giveaway!
I think it’s been at least a year since I last purchased music on iTunes. I definitely need to update my playlist with some recent hits.
There’s soooo much great music out there, Lisa, you’ll probably find it easy to spend that $25. Best of luck!
Love the playlist. 🙂 Sounds like we’ve got the same taste in music!
Thanks! I mean, who doesn’t love 90s music? 😉
Salt N Pepa! I have been listening to 90’s hip hop on Pandora lately.
90s hip hop is my jam! SnP is legit. I’m obsessed with Shoop. Here I go, here I go, here I go again. Girls, what’s my weakness? MEN. Okay then. 😉
I LOVE ’90’s music!! There is so much music I want that I don’t know if I can limit it to $25 worth.
I absolutely love your playlist, I’ve got lots of those songs on my half playlists (yes, I have more than one playlist for halfs) I need my songs to get me through my runs.
I would probably go for some Mumford and Sons!
Thanks for the chance to win, love you chicks! I love me some Black Eyed Peas, Ke$ha, Katy Perry, and Selena Gomez when I run.
